Our Review
We found this essay to be a solid attempt at describing the map's changes. It successfully identifies the key transformations and provides some specific examples, which is crucial for Task 1. The inclusion of unchanging elements also adds a good comparative dimension. However, we believe there's significant room for improvement, particularly in the depth of description and the sophistication of language.
The essay could benefit from more precise vocabulary; for instance, instead of "vast amount of developments," a phrase like "significant expansion" or "extensive redevelopment" would be more impactful. Grammatical accuracy is another area that needs attention. We noticed several errors, such as incorrect past participles ("splitted" instead of "split") and unnecessary possessives ("sea's"). Sharpening the grammar and expanding the lexical resource would undoubtedly elevate this essay.

The map demonstrates the developments and changes that occured in Ryemouth village between 1995 and present.
The village named Ryemouth was the host of various changes over 25 years. Nevertheless, there are some exceptions. For instance, cafe's location has never changed over 25 years. In addition to this information, hotel and sea's location has never changed either.
Unlike the stable locations that I stated above, there are vast amount of developments and consturctions. For example the farmland splitted into 2 parts. In addition to this change, people are utilizing these areas for playing tennis and golf. As the same way the fish markets turned into apartments. In contrast to these developments the housing area that was located in the north-west of the map shrinked due to the construction of the new way that split the housing area into 2 parts as same as the farmland.
To sum up there are various changes that occured due to the requirements of the up to date life and the planning of the map is renewed.
IELTS Essay Assessment
1. IELTS Writing Score: 5/9 ■■■■■□□□□
2. Score Breakdown:
- Task Achievement: 5/9 - The essay addresses the task by describing the changes shown on the map. However, the description lacks detail and analysis. The comparison between changes and unchanging features is present but not deeply explored. More specific details about the scale of changes and their impact would improve this score.
- Coherence and Cohesion: 5/9 - The essay uses some cohesive devices (e.g., "In addition," "For example," "In contrast"), but the overall structure is somewhat disjointed. Paragraphing could be improved to enhance the flow of ideas. The conclusion is brief and lacks a strong summarising statement.
- Lexical Resource: 5/9 - The vocabulary is adequate but limited. There is some repetition (e.g., "changes," "developments"). More precise and sophisticated vocabulary would be beneficial (e.g., instead of "vast amount of developments," use "substantial development" or "extensive construction"). There are also some spelling errors.
- Grammatical Range and Accuracy: 5/9 - The grammar contains several errors, including subject-verb agreement ("cafe's location has never changed"), tense inconsistencies, and incorrect word order. While simple sentence structures are used effectively, a wider range of grammatical structures would improve the score.

4. English Model Essay:
The map illustrates the transformations in Ryemouth village between 1995 and the present day. Over this 25-year period, the village underwent significant changes, although some areas remained static. For instance, the café and hotel retained their original locations, as did the shoreline.
However, substantial development occurred elsewhere. The farmland was divided into two sections, which were subsequently developed into tennis courts and a golf course. Similarly, the fish market was redeveloped into residential apartments. In contrast, the housing area in the northwest experienced a reduction in size due to the construction of a new road, which bisected the area, mirroring the division of the farmland.
In summary, Ryemouth village has experienced considerable modernisation and restructuring to meet the demands of contemporary life, resulting in a noticeably altered landscape.
